How to look for a reliable or trusty babysitter
I'm having a hard time concentrating on my work because my son has become extremely active and only sleeps 1 hour during naptime. I'm thinking of getting a babysitter that will only come 3x a week so I can buy myself some free time. However, how will I know if the babysitter has no bad track record or has no criminal records? My friend suggested Sitter City, which looks like they really screen their sitters. Has anyone tried this service? Any feedback?

Hi there! I just randomly saw this and had to respond. Yes, my good friend and Neighbor here in Newport Coast Calif.. found her nanny through Sitter city and has reccomended it to me a few times. She found her nanny via sityter city and the nanny was amazing and stayed with her a few days a week for 2 or 3 years! She recently had to let her go because her company went bust and she could not keep her any longer, but my friend had many good things to say about the service! I am in your same boat actually. I have a 16 month old and she is transitioning to one nap from two...and it is HELL let me tell you. :-) Some days she wants to am nap..some days she doesn;t...and sometimes if she does not take the am nap...she then will only sleep for maybe 45 mins to an hour for the afternoon nap. Today I just gave up on the am nap and had to take her nap at 1pm and it is now 2;25 and I have not heard a peep since. Yayy! I completely know what you are going through and we just decided to have our weekend babysitter who watched her when we go out (a friend's nanny) come help me out a couple days for a few hours so I can get some things done. It is hard I do understand. It is so hard to consontrate (I have a home biz which I had to give up temporarily because she is way too distracting)...I am hoping I can pick it up again once we have her help me out a few hours a week.

Oh and it is great for babysitters as well I am sure. I re-read my post below and meant to say that my friend's nanny babysitter did not live with them...just came for 4 hours a day 3 days a week.

I think you do your own backgroung check with them as well (forgot to mention that), that is what my friend did. good luck.
