Located in Galesburg, IL, a college and railroad town about 45 mins. west of Peoria, this 1930s, with 1950s addition, former orphanage would be ideal for a boutique hotel, honor dorm, or office or apartment building. I'm not going through with my plans, due to aorta and iliac replacement sugery, and will offer owner financing, if necessary. I'll have it paid off with the Oct '10 payment. Obviously, at this price, it needs rehab, but about 95% of the wiring and panels have been redone, about 85% of the brick tuck-pointing, and the boiler checked out fine. It's in an excellent location, just off the town square, and on a corner between a cut stone cathedral and a 15-story apt. building. It sets across the street from city hall, the main fire station, and the library, and is just two blocks to the county courthouse and three to Knox College. Carl Sandburg Community College is also in town. Lots of good things have happened recently; e.g., new Super Walmart, Menard's Building Supply Super Store, and Harley-Davidson
Dealership, plus announced wind farms and ethanol plants, BNSF railroad expansion, Ford Motor Co. white collar training center, and National Railroad Hall of Fame and Museum (authorized by congress).
